Mark has been working this week at Fred Longworth High School, (Tyldesley, Wigan), helping them to create a range of products to be sold at a forthcoming charity event at Manchester Children’s Hospital. We helped the school last year on a similar charitable project that raised over £350.00 in one afternoon.
This time, we want to double this by producing a range of laser cut and laser engraved homeware, designed by the pupils at Fred Longworth, with a little help from our laser cutter, (watch out TK Maxx)!
Even though there are a range of items available for sale on the afternoon, we are using the ‘Manchester Bee’ as the main source of our inspiration for our work this year.
The design uses 2 ply, 3mm hardboard, with spaces left free to attached mosaic tiles which will eventually be grouted. The pupils at Fred Longworth are a very creative bunch, and they have thought long and hard on the best way to make money for this important charity. We are still in the middle of making, so we will let you know what we have made, and the sale dates shortly!
